Can I return to Walmart without a receipt?

Often yes, in store, with a government-issued ID. Refunds come as cash (small amounts), a gift card, or an exchange β€” and are subject to a verification limit.

Most items: 90 days. Electronics: 30 days. Wireless phones: 14 days. Marketplace (third-party) sellers set their own policies β€” check the order page.

Receipt rules

  • In-store no-receipt returns are possible with valid ID: refund as cash (under ~$10), gift card, or an even exchange β€” subject to a verification system.
  • Online orders: your Walmart account order history is the receipt.
  • Walmart can sometimes look up store purchases paid by card at the register.

Label rules and drop-off options

  • Online returns can go back to any store β€” often label-free via a QR code in the app.
  • Mail-in returns generate a prepaid label from your account.
  • Marketplace items may need a seller-provided label β€” start the return in your account first.
  • Drop-off option: Any Walmart store (QR code from app)

Common denial reasons

  • No receipt and verification system declined the return

Refund delayed playbook

  • Check whether the item was a Walmart sale or a Marketplace seller β€” refunds for the latter can take longer.
  • Track the return package; refunds start after receipt at the returns center.
  • Escalate through Walmart.com chat with your order number if past the stated window.
